Fixed the pioneer tape deck! Stripped it down again and stripped down the motor. Unbereelable. Sat in the cupboard since 2020, got it out yesterday, fixed today. Couldn't have done it without youtube. Another reason ot not bother paying a sub.
Playback sounds quite dull with no highs but hopefully some potentiometer adjustment will bring it back. They are all helpfully labelled on the board, EQ, Bias, level output, record level etc I think the head's ok .. he said hopefully. Speed spot on.
Better to change out all the electrolytic caps likely to have drifted out of spec than mess with the pots ...? One's just easier and free but lazy.
The variable pots adjust with a flat screwdriver and might benefit from some detox sprayed on em
But so good to have it play the entire side of a cassette. Everything else works as it should, auto play stop, counter, fast 4wood /rewind now fast and glitch free too.
I'll do some recording before I touch anything. ... possibly order a cap set
yeah, not giving them away. https://www.ebay.com/itm/166076016019?_trksid=p4481478.c101506.m1851
