Not sure what sort of vehicle was involved / responsible for the Tarling death. Cycling news says it wasn't a race vehicle. 'According to a report by RTP, local authorities said Tarling died after being struck by a driver not affiliated with the race. A call of a collision involving a car and cyclist came in at 3:40 p.m. when the race would have been at approximately kilometre 90 of 166.8, near the intermediate sprint at Ponte de Lima. Tarling immediately received medical attention but died not long after the crash.'
