used to be quite an issue. Back in the day
All our option confirmations said expiry 3pm London time
US banks in the US always confirmed 10am NY time
But you do get the odd week when there's a one hour gap
So you've written an option and covered it by buying one from a different bank and if the one hour difference is against you - ie the one you have bought expires (based on the sellers confirmation) an hour earlier you could have quite a problem
I remember one deal well over 30 years ago in about 300 million dollars worth of Spanish pesetas with just such a gap. Luckily the strike price was well away from where the exchange rate was that day but I still remember the feeling!
Caveat emptor etc
