I hadn't thought of that as a stand alone [no pun intended] home heating source, but now you mention it

the domw would be a fairly huge stockage of heat. put a damper (sliding plate to close the flu) in the flu and keep the heat in longer, leave it open a tad for any monoxide to escape that's still given off.
You couldn't have a 'battery' type flu design flow with the dome oven design though. If the firebox 'is the oven' scenario you don't get the as clean burn .. possibly.

Problem is, to get the heat up to 800+ degrees in the top of the dome you need to insulate the dome. Insulating the dome means no heat from the dome only from the open front (which would 'pour out' into the house for a long time for sure) ... I guess you could run the flu into a 'battery' winding flu brick or other type of channel arrangement (with clean out passages) instead of straight up the chimney, but 'big job' as far as structural support, and the fire and chimney itself quite big.,

.. and because the oven is itself relatively high, + add in height of the stub flu oven exit pipe, you're talking about the flu gas enerting a 'battery' (structure for winding passage of hot gas flow up to existing vertical chimey flu, (gas still needs to still be 200+ degrees at that point to maintain reasonable draw - having given up about 500+ degrees c of its heat to the mass (heat-stocking battery structure) it's passed through)

YOu would need a 2,20 minimum height. Pizza exit gas goes straight up a meter (oven exit pipe already 1.20 off ground), and then first turn, 180 degrees, and gas flow goes down ... could go down 2 meters, and then turn, back up 2 meters, 180 turn and back down 2 meters, then final 180 at bottome, and up 220 and connect to flu outlet.

It would be pretty cool. Combine a pizza oven with a russian/finnish flu design. A unique selling point, but here I would have to 100% support the floor from cellar below. ... en fin, it's a 10,000 euro labour job, 2,500 in bricks and morter etc. Clean out traps, couple of hundred or less as they are online 2nd hand.

You could also incorperate a hot plate into the design ,, but that really would be tough as you can't access the direct-out-the-oven (firebox) hot gas as it's coming out at height 1,30+ cm off the ground already. Putting a plate mid flow position would take quite a lot of heat out the gas (flow). You want a pizza (chicken too) oven, boil water on a gas hob would be the easist solution. bottle of butaine here, paid 35 euros last week., 13kilo, typical 'super ser' home heater size bottle. (I think he charged me wrong price, was marked up outside at 44 possibly? ,.. but I was expecting to pay even more what with de war n all dat/

..looking at the receipt, he charged me for the bottle (consigne, in french) and not for the gas. ie you got no bottle you pay a total of 79, and keep the bottle and swap or full when empty (tell me somethng I don't know says Jon)
