Things you did not know number 664480953…
States have to pay Michelin a lot of money before they will rate their restaurants.
Michelin are hardly going to say , about Australia for example, all your eateries are crap and not worthy of a mention after getting millions from the state to do it..

Getting into the Michelin Guide can be an expensive business for governments. Michelin first approached Australia about establishing a local guide in 2016, then in 2024 asked for about £9m over five years from Tourism Australia.
Michelin also proposed to stage six events around the country over five years at a cost of £2.6m, paid for by the host states, bringing the overall Australian investment to just under £21m. This proposal was rejected.
New Zealand entered the guide in July this year after it was reported to have paid £2.7m over three years. It now has one two-star restaurant, Essence in Queenstown, and 14 one-star restaurants.
