Gary Glitter charged over child sex offences
Disgraced pop star accused of committing offences against girl between 1978 and 1981 in west London

Gary Glitter has been charged with historical child sex offences against a girl, dating back to 1978.

The disgraced glam rock star – whose real name is Paul Gadd – is accused of committing offences against a girl between 1978 and 1981 at a home in Kensington, west London.

Glitter, 82, is charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14. He will appear before Westminster magistrates’ court on Aug 5.

In 2015, the paedophile pop star was jailed for 16 years for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980.

He was automatically released from HMP The Verne, a low-security prison in Portland, Dorset, in February 2023 after serving half of his fixed-term determinate sentence.

Scotland Yard launched an investigation after the new allegations were first reported to police on Jan 9 last year.

Glitter, who is currently being held in HMP Cannings Wood in Devon, was first interviewed by officers over the allegations on July 22. His accuser, who is being supported by specialist officers, has been made aware of the charges.
