Ooops....
A night-time foray to Foot Locker that comes to an abrupt end
At 3 am on the night of Sunday 18 October, two young men aged 18 and 19 decided to walk along the main street in Nice in the hope of recovering looted and abandoned items.
But the vast majority of the entrances to the vandalised shops had already been barricaded. Only one shop still appeared to be accessible: Foot Locker. The two companions broke in and spotted a man asleep, whom they mistook for a homeless person. They then grabbed the only pair of trainers still in the shop and slipped them into a rucksack they found there. However, one detail escapes their notice: the bag actually belongs to the shop’s security guard, who had dozed off whilst on duty.
Apprehended as they left, the two young men could only realise just how foolish they had been.
Presided over by Alexandre Julien, the court sentenced them to six months’ imprisonment, to be served immediately.
