When doing the lakesbyyoo we wanted a bird hide building on a bit of the site we had reserved for nature.
Council demanded full planning and it got so contentious that the whole planning committee demanded a visit. We were told that on no account were we to speak to them. But we had to get then to that but of the site which required 4x4s. So lined up 4 Land rovers and made sure the planning officer bint was in last one…. Each of us drivers then spent the 15 minute slow drive putting over the pluses. So by the time we arrived at the bird hide site, we’d already got them onside. When the last car arrived and the bint got out she started shouting at us that it was a live planning meeting and we had to stop talking immediately. We then handed over to our eco guru Ben who started showing the bee banks we’d built and where the ponds would go etc and it was all swiftly approved. Of course though it only had a narrow slit for birdwatching, the wall slid away to be a glass fronted party location 😎

Subsequently built some allotments and a petting zoo next to it.
