Cockerel’s owner threatened with antisocial behaviour warning
Crowing bird named Colonel angers neighbours in Norfolk village of Aldeby

A cockerel’s owner has been threatened with an antisocial behaviour warning because of the bird’s early morning crowing.

The cockerel, named Colonel, has angered neighbours in the Norfolk village of Aldeby.

Sue Farthing, the bird’s 58-year-old owner, said she had been threatened with a community protection notice by South Norfolk council over the noise.

Colonel is locked in a coop overnight, and Ms Farthing, an artist, has blacked out the windows to try to prevent him from crowing at the crack of dawn.

But the owner – who does not know who the complainant is – said the row was “insanity” because Colonel only crowed once in the morning and twice during the day.
