Cheap thrills that nevertheless could cost a bit. Find awai 990 in a second hand shop in Smethwich in 1990. Record 'Oranges & Lemons' by XTC on one side of a C90 and the maybe 3/5ths debut album by Danny Wilson on the other side AIWA 3 Head Tape Deck Repair (AD-FF90 / AD-F990) - Mend it like Mark, part1!! https://youtu.be/UpctKF-rhHE?si=_cM6FGYcoRzcnPfd Then, fast forward, no pun intended 36 years and pick up the tape and put it in while testing another unrelated aiwa, or akai, ... I think it's an akai without getting up from my chair, and lo, (yeah it's akai) anyway, I lost the awai in ridiculous circumstances in 1994, but still have the cassette. And talking of which, hearing this again after ... maybe at least 20 years, firt track on the Danny Wilson album, nice. Also the xtc album, the first track I heard when I first put the tape in, superb ...can't think what the title is of course, but .. I can find out ... the akai I'm playing the tape on has repeat play, so if I sit here long enough before hitting post it'll come on.
