Switzerland has a comprehensive free trade relationship with the EU, based on the 1972 Free Trade Agreement for industrial products and subsequent bilateral agreements. These agreements eliminate customs duties, remove technical barriers to trade, and include provisions for the free movement of people, public procurement, and other key sectors, providing Switzerland access to the EU's internal market.
