Snow and ice warnings have been extended across the country as temperatures plummet.
The Met Office has issued new yellow warnings for snow and ice for parts of England and all of Northern Ireland.
It also warned that overnight ice may create “tricky” travel conditions for commuters on Thursday morning.
Some travel disruption was caused on Wednesday morning and National Rail warned that speed restrictions may remain in place on Thursday, prompting fears of further delays.
Heavy snow fell on Wednesday across Scotland, northern and southern England and Wales with parts of the UK seeing up to 7cm.
Weather stations also reported 5cm of snow in Lerwick, Shetland, 4cm in Loch Glascarnoch and 2cm in Aviemore, Invernesshire.
