Cote d'Or, east and north east of Dijon a bit (30 minute drive) I really like it. Rolling coutryside, not
too high altitude, on the east side of the 900 meter escaprment that forms the Morvin plateua (to the west of Dijon.) Nice stone houses. Was there today looking at a place. It's a no on the place itself I think but the area itself I like. Olde france I knew from 2002 still. Even saw someone reversing his 2CV out the garage. Neighbour of the house I was looking at, I went round to see who the owner of the freindly dog was, nice guy, drove a 110bhp C5, about the last of the good citroens. took me to the owners house down the road. So I got a full visit.
Live there (cote d'Or (Burgandy), give macron half your cash, you'll still have more than enough. You can't put a price on time travel. Dijon, Gray, Beaune, and further east Besancon.
Gray, passed through it, never heard of it, not too big, but nice as you'd expect for the region (it's actually in Haute Soane but on border) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray,_Haute-Sa%C3%B4ne
Ireland.. too wet and grey.
editor's note, obviously this would require you living near french people which we know can be problematic. However who'd have thought the same to be true of Andorans too, and the Greeks (actually I don't know about the Greeks)/ end of the day, relatively cheap, good weather, zero immigration, olde school europe, 2 hours south of Paris if you HAVE to go there, fast payage roads if cost not an issue, good bread, no car tax, mot every two years instead every year, zero knive crime (ok and also zero fish and chip shops). But I like the area more than around here in the valley bresse, north of Lyon. Too hot in summer, back against the wall to the east with the petite mountain, lots of new build modern pavillion expansion ... Les Burgundians (check spelling, ed] sold Joan of Arc to the English so not all bad.
