he did pass out as he went in2 a spin, blacked out from spin Gforce I think. One of the things I hate most in the world is top gear editors and directors, and also Mike Mansfield Music who directed Pilot ... his very logo is him at the control desk saying , and cue pilot! before going on to fukc up the entire shoot. In the old days the cameras didn't chop every second, use extreme close up head shots on the singer. Everything was more as to enhance your experience if you were in the audience. 2nd bug bear, the footage from that jump. They cannot just give you raw footage from best angle, FIrst off they cut too soon from the overhead camera when he jumps, then there's actually a cut in the footage in those first 50 seconds. why?? WHy do directors with 50 cameras end up giving viewers a semi Shit show. TOp Gear, literally unwatchable at times. Race between a fighter jet and a Bugatti Veyron around the oxfor airfield, a good example.
At the time he did the jump, I thought,... there are far more scary things to do than that., what's the big scare deal? Equipement failure aside, Kittenger had already done it, the tech was proven, what was there to be so worrid about? Jumping Snake CAnyon on a rocket sledge far more dangerous. And I guess the only thing that is risky is going into a spin with no air resistence to slow you down could be fatal ... You could end up like an ice skater but spinning for a 90seconds. .. but really I still think, not that risky, just expensive.
