I've only got about five years of NI contributions and there is a minimum of ten years required to qualify for the state pension.
Buying 18 years NI contributions would cost £13,228.80 and generate £6,157.54 p.a. at the current pension rate. That has a payback period of 2.15 years, which on the face of it would seem to be a good investment. However, as I'm not too sure if I'll survive too far into my 70s, I've yet to push the buy button.
