It’s that glow ball warming again.. Verbier’s ski season started four weeks early – I went to see what all the fuss is about Skiing conditions in Verbier are currently excellent, with more snow forecast to fall There was rising optimism in the crisp mountain air after autumn snowfall enabled the ski season to start four weeks early in Verbier. The world-famous Swiss resort opened last Saturday following a dump of over 15in of fresh snow at the Lac des Vaux. Spirits were high at an altitude of 8,343ft as thrill-seekers jumped at the chance to make their first turns of the season, almost a month before they had anticipated. It is unusual, but not unheard of, for there to be skiing in Verbier at this time of the year – though the buzz in the air and beaming smiles suggested it was a novelty for many of those fortunate to be hurtling down the slopes.
