That would have been handy today as I rolled up, in the impeccably performing Volvo and his gates were shut. I buzzed, no answer. I called him ... "Sorry Jim I forgot you were coming!*" We rescheduled for Thursday same time. He's about 11 miles away. I took the opportunity to call in on a wood merchant on the way back. 80 euros a meter sq! "been that price for last two years." Ok, seeing as the wood's good n dry,.. is that cash price?? Yes. OK I'll have 1 stair (1sq m) in 33 (same price as 50cm) delivered to cousance I don't deliver for only one stair! Ok i'll pick up in my trailer thursday when I come back to give the english lesson ,.. how much. 80. I'll pay cash! 80. OK I'll leave a cheque in the letterbox as will be around lunchtime Make the cheque for 88. !! .. OK i'll leave the cash in an envelope. I might have got a new student though, his daughter. *I always let him off any cancellation as he's undergoing dialysis treatment 3 days a week.
