In Britain, Mark Carney had two political principles
1. We should adopt the regulations of the large market next door.
2. Decarbonisation mattered more than affordable energy.
In Canada, he does the opposite. Why?
Because he has to think about voters.
His U-turns neatly illustrate why we shouldn’t let unelected officials take key decisions.
