One can only hope this pos gets his comeuppance…
Gerry Adams: Yes, I wore a black beret – so did Benny Hill Former Sinn Féin president says he wore hat because he was part of republican guard of honour at funerals of IRA volunteers during Troubles
Gerry Adams has dismissed claims that wearing a black beret made him a member of the IRA by saying that Benny Hill used to wear one too.
The former Sinn Féin president, 77, is facing a civil claim that alleges he played a “pivotal role” in the Provisional Irish Republican Army and orchestrated bombings during the Troubles.
Mr Adams arrived at the High Court in London just after 10am on Tuesday wearing a wristband that said “save Gaza” and a Palestine badge pinned to his suit lapel.
He also had a sprig of shamrock in his jacket pocket in a reference to St Patrick’s Day. After entering the witness box, he wished Mr Justice Swift, the judge, “a very happy St Patrick’s Day”.
Giving evidence in an English courtroom for the first time, Mr Adams said it was “no big deal” that he had worn black berets to the funerals of IRA volunteers during the Troubles.
