Started a post y'day , apropos Fuhrer's ref to Governor's Xmas party , ... never posted , but was about the time I was at a dinner at BAOR HQ in Germany ... , was only one of two in civvies , when took a sip of the wine/port passed round at the end ! Oh what a blast yours truly was met with from the assembled military brass , ha ha ha ! , who cried out that one first had to toast Her Majesty beforehand .... Quick as a flash yours truly colonial boy, me, quipped but surely one must first taste to ensure the quality was as befits her majesty ! ! .... Situation saved and endorsed by host, one Col Willey Mulherin , a Canadian, second in command to one General Allard ,first non Brit to command a Brit ''Army Corps'' , or some such ...(had a cute daughter , Andreé , as I recall !
