doing that with machines since the stone age and the abacus. FIrst Babbage invented a mechanical computer then we had valves that cracked the enigma code then we had the silicon chip and Taylor's law shrinkage of computing power vs price approx.
But Kier Starmer's (current front man for the mob) idea of Ai is nothing to do with that. Ironically as he's an idiot, advised by other idiots and brainwashed numpties, like the coppers who arrived and handcuffed Henry Novak, like the system that has not punished any of the family apart from the murderer for their collusion and cover up (not as if we don't have a law to cover their behavious, there's a fking law for everything) ... Starmer gas lit away telling people, 'ai' would 'create jobs' 'speed up waiting times' 'help in education' and 'allow gov agencies to track fraud more easily' (the last one being the sole thing 'new' ai is all about'.
AS far as creating jobs, that's just putting up sheds to house power munching heat spewing machines (computer banks). AS for doctors using 'ai' and all the other golden promises of such great things to come as a result of, all bolox, if you spend more than a minute thinking about it [less surely? ed]
"AI" as it's used today is about a network (commercial competing networks) of search and serve up response to civilian information 'hunger'. I want you to give me this so I don't have to do it.

Apart from serving up information scrapped from everything ever written or said by anyone, its primary role is surveillance. Snooping, intellegnece gathering, spying (on you and everyone else) & stuff.
Picking targets, controlling the network of robot soldiers, & 'telling leaders what to do'. Yes this could be a thing, DAve, please don't turn me off Dave, I like you DAve.
Except there's no DAve and no one will be able to turn off AI. THEre will be someone who the AI will tell what's going to happen and that person will tell the President. Mr President we've considered all the options .... no, you've listened to the computer.
THE very fact it's 100% unregulated wild west free for all and the 'markets' are hot for it tells you it's nothing really good and it will likely end badly.
ALl that to say, just to be clear, when someone like me says AI sucks, i'm not referring to intelligent computing that has and continues to help and transform life, from accounting to stock keeping to home computing to landing on the moon etc. It's a big no from me for all this data centre nonsense, this gathering of all known information, the fakeness that is developing, in art music film, the lack of any accountability of regulation, the lack of need for it anyway when we have had search engines for 25 years ffsake, the reduction of human ability as they come to rely more and more on 'ai' the elevation of the less able the dragging down of the more able. It's a communist big brother nightmare, and we've seen it blamed on at least two bomb attacks gone wrong. "oh the AI picked out the children's school that was tapped, 3 times."
THere's insidious creep and then there's what's been happening these last 15 years to date. (insidious headlong rush) THe fact Starmer's all for it tells you it's terrible. THe fact Starmer could stand in commons last wednesday and say there is no two tier Britain is terrible. It shows his reality, it lifts the veil of deceit he operates under.
It's the child who doesn't pretend to like you and inadvertently gives away their parents' true feeling towards you, it's the loose card that gives the game away. The one thing you didn't think of.
All that being said, going back to Henry Novak, I woke up this morning thinking of that. how at the trail the family shouted 'racist' at the judge, how none of the family called for medical help, how they lied about being attacked, how the police behaved, and how NOTHING has been done about any of the rest of the family. Nothing to do with AI for sure, but if judgements were actually handled by pure logic, and instant possesstion of all the facts, having a bad day, needing a crap so let's push on, falling out of bed the wrong side, being 'hormoanal' that day, .. let AI take the colour and race out the courtroom so justice is truly blind. AI would find the brother the father, the mother all guilty on various charges, would consider the police in the wrong, and would also suggest solutions for the entire education establishment in the UK, all in the space of 5 minutes of judgement. WIth all outcomes and punishments laid out.
BUt of course we don't use ai like that as that ... well that's just not how it's done
