I agree it was very hurtfull, and thoughtless. Not good and you're right to feel aggrieved. YOu say she likely arranged the meal. You also say you've been closer in the past but over last few years only see each other as couples 3 or 4 times a year.

Getting back to original, best course [no pun intended] of action:
Get her her off the under the counter medicine, and next time you're together tell her you felt awkward... no cancel that, ask her why you as a family wern't invited as ... "we were all happy to go".
If she gets defense and you sense some aggression, short answer, tell her to get her own fking medicine.
If you feel she's genuine in saying, I/we didn't think you'd enjoy it as the (scrolls up and no longer your post to refer to) family/the rest of them .. all 8 of em?, are a bunch of %&!*@s/a funny bunch ... I dunno, if that's the case it's MAY be more like you're dealing with a women who likes to project an image, be different things to different people, manipulative, in charge, and she didn't want 'vous' lot to see how she behaves/likes to show off.
This is not great. For the sake of your old friendship get her her medicine, and say to your mate ... 'I'll speak to you later', play it by ear, etc. In the end you can't win against a narc type character ... unless through no contact .... so be there for your mate, but knock the couple thing on the head, IF you think the above may have hit nail on head.
If you feel she didn't want you lot cramping her style and seeing through any facade she operates with, well knowing what she is may prevent any further you feeling used essentially by her to do her shopping.
