Muslim representation in French politics involves a complex dynamic shaped by France’s strict model of
state secularism (laïcité), which discourages identity-based or religious political categorization. While France is home to one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe (estimated at around 5 to 6 million), explicitly identifying as a "Muslim politician" is rare, and public figures with Muslim heritage span a wide ideological spectrum.
