I know that fire quite well, was tempted to buy one at one point as 'different' Franco Belge is the manufacturer,

make good stuff.
Problem is though it is a bit of a 'gouffre de bois' 'greedy eating wood' it can get through quite a bit, which is fine if you cut your own and have a lot of the stuff. Al large frebox and cast iron.
The chappee is refactory lined, insulated, enamelled. For it's size, very heavy, almost a poelle de masse. You still get a lot of heat wasted going up the chimney that could be captured , but beally last night i was super impressed.
It was actually in the barn since march and I was planning on selling it. My mate saw it and said why are you not using it?
It motivated me to get it back out the barn and into the house to give it one more try (after not being too impressed this time last year with not great wood - humid)
So I took apart the jotul, and the first firing of the season*, end of novermber! and with decent wood 2 nights ago. Then last night 2nd iring, een more impressive. Burning 33 and 25 cm logs, mix of oak, hetre (hornbeam), and the type that's on the top of the fire in the pic, 33cm charmille ... english name .. actually I think that's hornbeam and the hetre is ash. a good mix ash and oak, and hornbeam gives a bit of the benefits of each, hot burn, some coals, not as slow as oak but a lot slower than quick burn ash.

*not been much point lighting the fire with open doorways to the barn. Installed patio door last night and made a seal to barn from lounge by cellar steps. Typically temps risen today, 7 degrees warmer than yesterday. Was minus 4 in the week, zero in barn, 8 in lounge, with no heating.
